Geomorphological roulette for engineers and planners

Denys Brunsden is Emeritus Professor of Geomorphology at the Department of Geography, King's College, London. He was born in Torquay in 1936 and, after his National Service with the RAF Joint Air Photographic Interpretation Unit, he joined King's College in 1956 as a geography undergraduate, studying also geology and social anthropology.

A key element of the approach is the application of integrated geophysical, geomorphological and geotechnical methods that make best use of high-resolution data. This paper presents an illustrated approach for applied geomorphology and geohazard assessment for deepwater development that has been adopted by leading offshore oil and gas companies.

Engineers have always appreciated that a civil engineering project should be based on a clear understanding of the geomorphology of the site of the proposed works. It is an old ‘game’! However, although it is good practice to take full account of the morphology and processes of the landscape during an investigation there is a tendency to restrict the work to basic mapping and ...

The northward flowing boreal river was dammed in 1967, and the volume details the river's post-regulation channel adjustment over the first 38 years and the geomorphological response of the downstream channel and riparian vegetation to the change in flow regime, with special emphasis on the 148 kilometers between the dam and the British Columbia-Alberta border where the flow regulation is most ... geomorphological | Example sentences Geomorphological is in our corpus but we don't have a definition yet.
